soundcard??

Hi
I just bought a new computer built it myself
p4 3.2ghz
1 gig ddr2 ram
and the motherboard's soundcard im using
for cool edit pro

when I record, the two track things that show what is recorded.....only shows the left side. I guess it doesn't record the right side.

There's a picture if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Should I get a new soundcard?
Or is there a way to fix this?
It also happened with N-trax
and cakewalk.
So I guess it must be the soundcard.
Please Help

user error. when recording a mono track make sure that the track properties are enabled for MONO recording.
you were trying to record mono to a stereo track. this is not the correct way to do it.
if recording stereo - enable for stereo.
btw - on board sound cards are very poor quality.
search this forum for many suggestions for a better sound card. eg..
delta, emu, terratec etc etc.
