would anybody here suggest a good pro sounding soundcard, the max i want to pay is 600. I need to hook 2 keyboards up and a mic pre. Thanks

hmm with so few inputs required you should be able to use your money for quality components insted. i would check out products by lynx, RME or MOTU

if you can make do with stereo inputs and saving some money.
tracertek.com and staudio.com have some stereo 24 bit capable soundcards for 100 bucks. also there is the popular audiophile.
but for top range big bucks cant beat rme or lynx.
but if your just song writing the 100 buck cards can do a decent job.
if i was on a budget and bearing in mind ada technology can change rapidly i think i would consider the 100 bucker and put the rest to good pre (eg rane ms1b) and a couple of decent inexpensive mics. (eg..cad gxl)

Much better! Thank you.
Sorry if we were too hard on you in the other thread.

What software are you using again? That might make a difference. Some cards don't work well with WDM drivers and some software doesn't support it. Also, I know some people have had issues with MOTU on the PC side.

I use a Mixtreme. It's not a popular card, but it works great and is very reasonably priced (a 16 I/O card with analog breakout box is $620.00). You might consider the new offerings from E-Mu; 1820M or the 1212M.
