I have an older Fostex 812 Mixer, it has the RCA style outputs. I'm looking for a decent but relatively inexpensive souncard that can be used to interface my mixer to my PC for stereo mastering. It must have RCA stereo in's. Could someone please describe a few soundcards which fit this description. Again, I only want to use it for mastering, to burn onto CD, and not for editing and mixing. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, there! Welcome to the Board.

Unless you know something I dont... Than it DOES NOT have to have RCA ins.

Unbalanced 1/4" jacks are EQUIVALENT to RCA jacks which are EQUIVALENT to 1/8" unbalanced jacks. Roger that? AND you can send rca to Balanced 1/4", 1/8" or XLR if you'd like. They are COMPATABLE..

SO refer to the multitude of "which soundacrd should I get..." threads.

My advice... SB Live if it isnt critical, whatever Ed uses if it is.

Hi Cheetah,
yup, what camn said. There seems to be a
misunderstanding of the 1/4" to RCA thing.

I got boxes full of every known possibility,
and adapters of every kind. This is why
God invented Radio Shack. Good Luck,David

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Soundblaster live only have one line in? How would I keep the stereo imaging going into one input???

Cheetah,
the 1/8" input on the soundblaster is a stereo
input.
Think about a walkman:it has only one 1/8" output,
but it still comes out stereo. Same principle,
just reversed.

Most likely, you will probably get an rca
cable, and then get an rca-to-1/8inch adapter
at radio shack, just make sure it is a stereo
adapter. Cheers, David
