ok I picked up a SB audigy card cheap a while back, then learned afterwards that the '24' bit recording is in actual fact 16 bit and a few other things that would have put me off buying it but anyways didn't cost me alot of money....
To get to the point, after installing it last night and listening to music it was fine, sounded a little bitter cleaner than my old card (build in motherboard soundcard) and today I tried to do some recording with it in Audition, and it records fine, however when I go to play back about 30 seconds into playback it starts playing up, (starts making a flap flap flap noise like when you're a kid and you peg a playing card onto your bike wheel to make it sound 'cool' if anyone gets me
, and speeding up sometimes chipmunking a little bit.
The actual waveform itself appears to be fine and intact and the signal coming through is fine from the cans when I'm monitoring etc, so It appears to be a problem with playback. (If i stop and start it from the same spot it will be fine, for another odd 30 seconds).
Although, it seems to work fine in Audacity, but I'm thinking it could be because Audacity doesn't use as much RAM or something like that (wild guess). Could it be that Audition is 'overloading' the card?
I'm confused how a really crappy motherboard soundcard can work better than a well (less) crappy soundcard? I've tried pulling the bitrate in Audition down to 16bit but it hasn't helped......
Any advice greatly appreciated, and I know I'm better off buying a better card however as student with little income at the moment I'm just going to try and persevere with what I've got....
Thanks in advance,
cheers,
Matt
