Soundcard that came with computer

Don't know if this is the right place for this question, but I am a newbie so ill shoot...

I'm using a soundcard that came with my comp. The name that appears when I check its properties is SoundMax Digital Audio. Is this a good quality soundcard in comparison to others on the market. If not, what should i be looking for? Can I find one better than this for $200 or less?

2. Look at the Delta cards

i failed to mention that i'm using a laptop computer.

do the normal delta sound cards work with laptops? or do i need to get a pcmcia sound card?
