Soundcard setup question

I'm trying to set up my desktop with the maudio 24/96 card. I removed the audigy card I had. What I don't understand is where you connect the cd connections? There is an audio connection on the mobo but I assume that is for the built in audio stuff. Doesn't the cd/dvd digital out and audio out connectors need to go somewhere or do you have to have 2 soundcards for that?

As raw data read from the CD by the OS itself and shoved through the normal audio system.
