Hello, I'm new here and was just looking for a little help. I've been using a soundblaster live for quite some time now and was looking to upgrade. I had intended to buy the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, but i read a post saying it was really only a 16 bit card, and it does seemed geared more towards games. I wanted the convienance of the front panel, having 1/4 inch inputs and all that good stuff but i want something that's 24 bit recording. I'm looking to spend about $350-400 CAD, could anyone recommend a good card.

My system is a: P4 2.8ghz, 512 megs of ddr ram (333mhz), gonna upgrade to a gig later on, I'm running Windows XP SP2

I need something compatible with XP and that's easy to use, i don't need a bunch of inputs as i program drums thru sonar with battery.

Anyways help would be greatly appriciated, thanks for your time! :)

Also, i should make mention that i record using cool edit pro 2.0, and as i mentioned i use cakewalk sonar with battery for drum samples, so i need something that will work with this. Thanks again!

ok, forget it, not that anyone's replying anyways (don't blame you though, i'm sure you get like 10,000 stupid threads like this). I've decided on the M-Audio Delta 66, seems like a good setup for what i want :)

I was gonna suggest the 44, but if you insist on the 66, well...

66 is good choice if you smash those two digital I and O with a sledgehammer ass soon as you get it!

do the 44! you already have digital I/O on your audigy card!

why do you suggest the 44 over the 66? aren't they basically the same thing but the 66 has digital i/o? and i don't have an audigy card, it's what i was looking at first until i heard all the flack it's gotten and what people had to saya bout it, i wanted a card for recording, not games, so m-audio seemed like a much better route,
