First, sorry for the really basic "newbie" type post (I thought I'd post in the appropriate forum rather than the Newbie forum)!

I'm looking for recommendations on a PCI soundcard for archiving my vinyl albums to my PC with good quality. Being more of a mechanical type person, I'm unsure as to what specifications are important for doing this task. My current system has the wonderful integrated sound, which I'll assume is not the best for my application. Should I be looking for a card with 24-bit/96kHz recording capabilty or is something less than that just fine? I've been looking at the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 and 7.1 cards which would seem to foot the bill. I'm not really concerned with the card output (should I be?) since the albums will eventually be put on CD or transferred to an iPOD, etc.) and not output to anything high end from the PC (other than the PC's speakers which are your basic stereo with subwoofer). What other specifications should I look at? I'm looking for something in the $100 range. Also, are there other solutions (e.g.; outboard interface ... other than a soundcard) that would work for what I'm trying to do? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks & Cheers!

Patrick
