I have a mackie cfx20 and I have an idea of using it to do multitrack recording on my pc. I was thinking about buying a whole new soundcard(i have a sb live plat. right now) but came across audio interfaces. Would using an audio interface work to separate the tracks going from the mixer to the interface to the cpu? I'm just trying to assess all the possibilities concerning this. I really don't want this board to go to waste. All suggestions are welcomed. Thanks guys!!

that thing should have channel inserts if not direct outs for each channel...there are plenty of multitrack soundcards or soundcards with a breakout box with multiple inputs...not sure what the most is , could be as low as 10, but maybe a MOTU has 12 or 20...however, fewer soundcards (plus whatever interface that comes along) are gonna have enough inputs and outputs to turn your pc into a super adat. of course, if you don't have a lot of sexy outboard gear, you might want to mix on the pc anyway.
