hey folks,

i've been recording via analog and digital tape based for awhile now. i've also been using acid to compose rythmn tracks, so i'd like to take the next step and track/mix on my pc. i've already got some nice outboard hear (pre's, comps, mics, etc). and i'll likely stick with software that mates with acid nicely (vegas?). but i'm stumped when it comes to a soundcard. my current pc is a pIII-650 with 256mb sdram and two 40gb, 7200 rmp hd's. i don't mind lowing down some $ for something good and dependable, with good converters. i really don't do midi, and just a stereo i/o would likely be just fine. any suggestions for a good soundcard?

thanks,

tony

If you still want to use your digital tape, I assuming you,re meaning ADAT and or TASCAM DA -88/98..then check out the motu stuff..www.motu.com..the 2408 will allow you to keep using the digital tape decks if you want.. you could then add the 1296 interface later to get the 96k 24bit recording..this is gonna cost you though

or try the rme stuff...www.rme-audio.com..this is another system that you can start with the basics then expand as needed or as the wallet lets you :)..

then theres the Delta 1010..this comes bundled with Vegas and gets you everything you need too. www.M-audio.com

Soundscape invented digital audio for the PC market. The Mixtreme does everything and the driver updates are always ahead of everyone. It's not cheap but it is the most reliable thing in my system. If your going from quality analog to digital don't let yourself down. Get a good card.

plus RME drivers get alone with all systems. Mixtreme and AMD used to be incompatible. I assume that is different by now.
