what sc is the best for a laptop a cheap yet good one i cheked some E MU sc out but they are ranging anywhere from 400 usd n up kinda expensive im going to use it mainly for vocal rec..i need help???!!

thanx

Pretty broad question, as there are literally a ton of options to use with a laptop. Since you sneered at $400, I'll assume that your budget is around $300.00. (Also since you didn't leave a budget)

Firewire Cards:
Presonus Inspire ($199)
Presonus Firebox ($299)
M-Audio Firewire 410 ($299)
M-Audio Firewire Audiophile ($199)

There are others too, but you need to do some research.

Laptop specific cards would include the E-MU like you said, and then also something like the Echo Indigo IO.

Use the search function on this site and you will find lots of stuff.

all i need is something that has quality because righnt now i use a macky dfx6 mixer to connect my mic to and then i use the line in to connect it to my laptops "soundcard" that came with this dell computer, but this computer makes some crazy ass noises once i want to rec so i figuerd i need a soundcard......im lost need some major lesson in this crap

plus i looked at that emu soundcard and it doesnt come with a XLR plug for the mic? or am i blind, the same sc for a normal comp has a 2 xLR plug ins???

I'm assuming the emu card you were looking at was the 1616(m) which has the pcmcia card, along with a connection to a breakout box. This box is where the xlr plugs in. The card itself only has an 1/8" headphone jack, and is meant only for listening to music without the breakout box connected.
