I have decided to purchase a m-audio soundcard. my question is which card would i need(44,66,1010,1010lt? my equip is

1. mpc2000xl
2. korg trinity rack
3. mo phatt
4. jv2080

i have a gateway pentium II 233mhz comp with 288ram & 30 gig hd. im only going to be doing tracks and dont need any vocals.

1. which soundcard would support my setup?
2. would i need a mackie mixer?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

the delta 1010, but you need to upgrade your computer..i would

It doesn't sound like you're gonna be recording more than one or two devices at a time, are you? If that's the case, the Delta 66 or even 44 would suffice.

You probably won't reach the limit of your computer during recording, however, if you're gonna be doing multitrack audio, you will reach the limits of your computer somewhat soon - probably at around 10 - 15 stereo tracks with no plugins. Depending on your motherboard, you may be able to do a minor cpu upgrade, but your computer is nearing the end of its useful life as an audio workstation.

the most i will probaly be recording is 2 or 3 at the most.i thought the 1010 would be overkill. '

1. will the 44 do the job?

2. what the advantage of stepping up to the 66?

thanks

The 66, I believe, just adds digital i/o. Other than that they both have 4 balanced inputs and outputs, so it seems like the 44 would do the job for you. Of course if you have digital output on any of your devices I suppose it would be preferential to use that. The 66 is only $80 more than the 44 at Musician's Friend, so it's not a huge leap in price.
