What are the equipment dangers (if any) of "Y"ing the OUTS of my synth (MotifES7) into a MINI plug for insertion into the MIC port of my computer's SoundBlasterLive card? Please respond ASAP, as an answer is immediately needed.

a NO NO!
synths are normally line out level. you should connect the synth line out to the sound card line in. NEVER the mic in.
actually be also aware its not a good idea to plug and unplug to sound cards
while the pc is booted up ANYWAY. you can jolt the circuits in the sound card. ive seen some go out of action this way.
this is why when i record a synth i plug it into a mixer , and then go line out
of the the mixer into sound card line input.
if you provide more detail what your trying to do i'll try to help.
peace.

Manning, thanks for your immediate response. Here is what's happening: My brother ran across a young lady who wished to put a demo disk together. She wanted him to use my MotifES7 to track into my Sonar Producer program. That would be the extent of it, here, as she would be taking the burned 'Bundle' to someone else's studio (who has Sonar Producer also). I am not too well versed in this stuff, which is why the product will be finished elsewhere, but I can save her a few dollars by having her music tracked before she gets there.

Also, would you be able to tell me the steps in saving a "Bundle" for the sake of cross-platforming? I tried it yesterday, but something went wrong. I was then told that the work had to be saved as a "Bundle/Data" file, but could find no selection for that. Your help would be IMMENSELY appreciated.

I have CWHS2004 but haven't tried to do anything with bundle files on another machine. Don't know if Sonar works the same, depends on which version. I have heard that you can do it but you may have to convert each track separately.

Try posting this question in the Cakewalk forum here, or on the Sonar forum at cakewalk.com, people there should be able to help.
