Sorry this is kind of a basic question, however I am looking to buy a new computer for recording purposes. I have been considering one of the Dell dimension computers, and I am just wondering...is it possible to put any soundcard in a Dell? Like are soundcards kind of universal one size fit all things, or is it possible that the soundcard I want (I don't know what card I want yet) will not fit in a Dell?

Thanks and sorry for my extreme newbieness I have very little computer experience.

Almost yes,

if you have a pci connection inside the dell, you'll need a pci sound card, but most dell's already have built on sound cards. If your dell is configured with only pcie slots, you'll need to get a pcie card, or usb/firewire interfaces do well too.

Jibberibber ,

Another thing to check into is this, the "New Computer" that you buy , if it has " Vista" for an OS , are there " Drivers " available for the card You buy ?
I know this sounds strange, but , I have read where some VideoCards Drivers are having problems with Vista , just something I would check into.

Stephen
PS ..Good Luck with Your Purchase :-)
