Hi,
I have a soundblaster audigy 4 i bought a while back, before i was concerned with recording. So my question is, would this go well with this mixer? I heard that the pre-amps on this mixer are good for the price. I plan to record each instrument one at a time in my rock/metal band into the mixer and then using the output into one of the line inputs and then into cubase. Is this audigy 4 anygood, or am I going to need a different interface?
Thanks.

Those pre-amps are crap even if they're free. You're Audigy Soundblaster was not meant for Pro audio applications. Get a 24bit interface pci/firewire/USB2.0 and start auditioning small boards for their noisefloor. As far as pre-amps go, you wil always find a stand-alone unit has better features and quality than a small mixer. Look at Pre-sonus, JoeMeek and Firepod, and others to start with.

Which interface would you reccomend? I am on a small budget so nothing more than 150 (UK) and I would rather it be firewire or USB.
Thanks for the help.

If you are limited in finance, as long as you don`t push the gain stages near max, that mixer and the sound card have a decent noise floor. The card you have will get you into what you want with pretty decent quality. However, after you get some hands on education with the card and mixer, you will probably be at a more informed point of decision making as to purchasing more pro equipment.
