I received a new Soundblaster Audigy Platinum ex for christmas.
Unfortunately I have not figured out how to record very well with it. How can you lay out multitrack recordings, modify sounds, etc.
Any advice on how to use this soundcard or any website would be appreciated.

p.s. I read the manual, it did not have much to say.

most of the time you just plug everything in, select the port as the source in the windows mixer, and hit record in the program you are using.

what kind of external things will you be using? mixers? preamps? most likely, you will plug your stuff into the line-in either on the back, or on the front break out box...

what software do you plan to record with?

One of the biggest mistakes I made until I began reading this forum/site was plugging straight into the Mic input on the soundcard instead of the Line-In. I bought an inexpensive mixer (Eurorack MX 602A) with preamps for $69, plugged into the line-in with adapters and now am getting much better sound from my mics (with a soundcard far inferior to the Audigy). I don't know if this is necessary with the Audigy Platinum because it may have a decent preamp.
Also, need to make sure that the recording mode is set to the best performance level in your soundcard driver.
NOTE: I am very new at this. Also note this is for recording classical guitar through mics.
