sound quality of mix

No matter where I go

Quality's good/good encoding, dynamic range is there. The vocals might be over-effected and a bit too loud. The 'acoustic' sounding guitar has too little bottom, and is very 'electric' sounding... it makes it sound like 80s pop, which I guess you were kinda aiming for.

I listened to this on cheap PC speakers at work, so I couldn't tell that there was even a bass playing, everything else bleeded over it. You might need to bring up the mids on the bass track a tad to give it more definition in the mix... normally I can make bass guitars out on these speakers fine.

What really liked was the muffed guitar part, that was done 100% correctly IMO... added a nice texture to the song (I think I'm going to use some muffed parts in my next piece...).

Thanks for listening Pinky. The song you listened to "No matter where I go" was recorded a while back.. I was kinda hoping you could listen to "scattered" hehehe Thanks.. Kevin

Oops :D

You may want to move that to the top of the playlist ;), I always assume the top item is the latest/greatest... or maybe I could pay more attention :p

A bit better mix this time, could hear the bass. Still very soft/80s pop with a slight hair-band flare, but if that's the idea (Queensryche fan??) then you're doing well :).

The ending of the song (around 3:00) the song really started for me, when you kick off the heels (so to speak) the passion came through. If you don't always feel that level of passion when playing a particular part, then you probably don't need to be playing that part... the beginning is a little tough to get through, but the end is grooving.

Overall, the first one I listened to needed some work, but the second was almost perfect for the sound/style you were trying to achieve.

thanks again Pinky..I agree these tunes have a big 80's sound..or influence.. that was my hayday when I did most of my gigging.. I'm now becoming an old fart with a wife, kids, and a mortgage..I'm not too sure I have anything to offer musically as far as writing goes anymore. I don't really keep up with the new music like I should, But I love the recording aspect and love to hit the record button as much if not better than playing guitar itself.. I am thinking I may just start recording other locals and bail out of playing.. I get just as much satisfaction mixing as I do playing ..

It's pretty good. The kick sounds bothers me though. If it's triggered, use a better sample. If it's not triggered, trigger it and use a better sample. :)

The guitars at the start, the acc, are a bit low.

The delay is ok on the vocals, but you really need some reverb on the vocals. They sound too 'dry' in context.

Good tune.

...listening on low-fi.....nice vocal delivery!!!.....great voice....song has a nice structure to it..."i am scattered"...seems to be said about 3000 times...(i know its the chorus.....but it seems to be run itno the ground..)..just my opinion...:D ...harmonies are great too..."when i walk in theres nothing on the.....(this word)..????...what are you saying right there??....not trying to be an asshole...but to my ears the lyrics seem not very inspired...now i am a total lyrics guy so maybe its just me....but really in all a great song good job!!

thanks
...the other white meat.:D

thanks for listening Jamal.. the line you are asking about is.."there's nothing on the shelf"heheh don't ask me..I didn't write the lyrics..my bass player is the singer,lyricist..(if thats how u spell it)
I wrote the music and we had the instruments tracked, but Mark(our singer) was having brain farts and was having a hard time coming up with lyrics..sounds like he wrote the lyrics about NOT being able to come up with lyrics..heheheh!! but hey, I certainly couldn't do any better and I kinda dig the melody..

Sounds pretty good to me.
The only thing that stood out was the snare,a little too loud.
Nice melody.
Mabey needs some heavy lead in there somewhere?

I liked it!

Pete

This sounds pretty good to me-Are those real drums? I always have to ask that..If they're real very good! I like the guitar mix during the verse-bass is very clear and out front-sounds like the vocals are getting drowned out during the chorus a bit--crap im having streaming problems--my impression was it sounded good. I'll try again later.....sorry

Sounds like Styx to me. Pretty good actually. The mix is leaning just a bit to the lean side. I like the harmonies......it could use some more wailing guitar in the background. The bass could come up a bit and the drums were just the least bit loud to my ears.

Nice tune and BTW....you're no old fart....... I'm an old fart and I play in a rock band with my daughter. So don't give me that "Ain't got nothing to offer" crap! Get out there and play! You're still a whippersnapper. :D:D:D:D:p

WoW!! Exactly where I was a few months ago.

I have since re-kindled my guitar interests and produce :D. I know my "musical" place (no Jimi here ;) ) so I let the lead players do most of the lead and I happily think up odd rhythm parts, etc... production opens more doors than being just a good player IMO... I work with a great guitar player but he has little production experience, so for as good as he plays he only sounds good because I take the time to make him sound good...

Decent song. I thought it was generally well recorded. I liked your singing voice and I liked the harmonies. Liked the changup at 2:53.

During the chorus the guitars cover up the vox a bit. Some EQing to get the guits out of the way may help. Big skip at 3:06.

Liked the music, but the lyrics felt like "filler."
