sound proofing question

I currently have a one room setup in a house that I'm renting. The walls of the house are plaster and lathe, which seems to be okay as far as not allowing too much sound to pass. The windows, however, leak horribly.

Is there some kind of window covering I can make to reduce the leakage? Money is little object, as long as I can take it apart and reuse the pieces when I move to another place. It also can't be too intrusive to the house because it doesn't belong to me.

thanks,
florestan

u can use some very heavy drapes or u could even build a wodded box and will with some insulatiopn and use like 4 scrues to stick it on the wall it should do a pretty good job

not to shoot you down 28seven,

but I'm kind of looking for somebody who may have had a similar problem and tried some solutions. I can speculate about what to do, too, but I'm hoping for some tried and true answers. thanks

ok see the atached u should make a box the size of the window on that u will atach some sort of L bracket to. then fill the box with insulation then scrue the box to the wall with the L brackets that you attached earlier

i would make the box a few inches larger then the window

....if this dosent make sence jsut reply again and ill try to explane a bit better im not to good at gettin my ideas out haha
