Sound problem connecting phone amp output -> mixer line input.

Hi. I set up a rehearsing room in my house for my band, we are 3: bassist, guitar/vocala and me, drums (e-drums). We have all wired to a mixer; the e-drum and bass are through the line inputs, and the guitar and vocal with mics inputs. The main out of the mixer is connected to a behringer ha 400 phone amp. I tried to connect my phone output to another small mixer beside my drums, so I could also have the click on my phones.

The thing is that when I connect the output of the behringer ha 400 with a 1 plug - 2 plug cable to the line input of my mixer, it sounds horrible: extremely distorted and low volume. The output volumes are all ok, none of them is "all the way up" or "all the way down", they are about 50 - 60% of the volume. Is it because the output of the phone amp has too much gain? Is there a way to make it sound right?

Thanks!

Be more specific about the cable you're using to connect the headphone amp to the second mixer. Are the plug ends two conductor or three?

what is the source of the click? What main mixer are you using? if you are using a headphone out, chances are it's a TRS jack. tell us the complete connection chain.:D

True, and the headphone out is a stereo TRS while the mixer's line input is likely TRS balanced. If it's a simple TRS to dual TRS splitter it's not going to work quite right as left and right of the stereo output would be connected to hot and cold of the balanced input. This requires a splitter that goes from stereo TRS to dual mono TS.

I am wondering if all inputs, including the click can be routed to the mixer then the headphone amp via an aux send, still need to know the details of the equipment and connections.

Instead of using a Y cable, just connect to the drum mixer by using an aux output. That way, you can even have your own headphone mix that can be different from everyone elses.

That what I was thinking, most mixers have at least 2 AUX sends, the OP said he was using E drums, my guess that is the source of the click. The HA 400 is pretty cheap, maybe get a 2nd one for the drum mix, if using aux sends you can have 2 mixes. the HA 400 is pretty basic, 1 input and 4 outs.
