I just got the Sound forge XP and wanted to know if it's possible to add effects to a wav file while it's playing, cause right now all I can do is add effects only when the file stops and than I have to restart it to see how it sounds, it would be alot easier to do it while it's playing.
Any help will be appreciated,
Russ

No, with digital effects on a computer you generally have to apply it to the data while it's sitting there, not while it's playing. The only way to do that is to use an outboard rack effects box, the way people did (and still do!) before computers. Anyway, that's what the preview button is for on most DirectX effects.

Wavelab.
real Time Effects and a quality wave editor as well.
I always thought "soundforge must suck. Who wants to ';apply' effects and THEN hear what they sound like. Preview sux since its usually not the whole song, just a snippet. No good at all. If u have a killer computer (I do :)) some programs (samplitide which rocks!) have a test button (besides the preview button) which plays it for you.
In wavelab, you pull up an effect, change the parameters/level/etc. All in real time and Hear it change! Thats cool but after all this being said.... I still like samplitude the best.

Samplitude? I though you were a Cubase user rj? Jump ship? Just kidding.

Samplitude is a pretty rocking program. Surprised there are not more people asking questions about it or commenting on it. Maybe that's a good thing.
