I've been working in SoundForge and keep building up files with certain extensions in the Soundforge file folder. The have pst,sfp and nst prefixes followed by 4 or 5 digits - and they have sfb. dxp, sfb,sfp and dxp suffixes.

Does anyone know what they are and whether or not I can delete them?? They don't take up a ton of space but if they are not needed - I want that hard drive space back!

Can anyone help??

My guess is that those files hold data that are specific to working with the wav in Sound Forge ... like creating markers, loops and stuff ... those tags can't be held in a normal wav file ... so SoundForge needs someplace to store that data. I'm not sure what other settings would be stored in those files ... maybe processor settings if your using live processing ... I dunno.
That's my guess anyway. I usually just dump them when I'm done editing.

Thanks BigK. I was concerned if I dumped them I would lose my effect presets...So I guess I gotta write down EQ / Compression custom settings in case I need to remix the original.

No Save the Eq and effects setting using the save function for the effect. Say save an effect as the song title. These can be openned again and used on other tracks etc.

cheers

Thanks John!! I have saved the presets so now I can delete the trash!

Warning!!

sorry John....

Don't delete these files until you are done with a project and write down the preset levels if you want them for later....

...lost all my presets. No big deal fortunately because I've been working this project so long I about had them memorized!

...I don't know if that's good - or bad...:)
