Legend in Own Mind
I'm sure this topic has been covered many times before, but a search of "Sound Fonts" and "Session Drummer" wasn't much help.

I want to use sound fonts with session drummer. Can you do this? I'm running sound fonts through my SB Live. I have attached the Blue Jay kit to channel 10. I have a session drummer (midi) track open with Channel (10), Bank, and Patch all set accordingly-- but no Blue Jay kit.

I am not a MIDI guy. I only want some drums to help compose guitar riffs. I guess I don't need the sound fonts but the Blue Jay sound font sure sounds better than the default drum sounds I'm getting with Session Drummer.

Lemme give ya a hand Scottgman...

Hey, you don't have to actualy attach the Blue Jay kit to channel 10 :D it can be any channel. You probably meant bank 10.

Anyway, here we go..

First... make sure you had reserved enough memory for soundfonts with AudioHQ. Now, in SONAR, attach the Bluejay kit on (example) Bank 1. Can you make it there ? Good...

Then... next five steps...

1. In associated MIDI track, choose the Out port to Internal synth (in my example below is port 3).
2. Choose the channel reserved for the track. It's not necessary channel 10 (see... I even choose channel 1 :) ). , but refering to GM, choose channel 10 to ensure.
3. Select Bank, that's Blue Jay Kit...
4. Select Patch...
5. Insert Session Drumer MIDI effect... sequence the pattern...

Remember, it is necessary to follow the step order. (eg. You won't be able to select bank prior to channel). Have fun...
Be back if you have any difficulties...

James... thanks man. I've read your Sound Font FAQ-- which is the whole reason I got the this far : ).

I've attached the Blue Jay sound font to Bank 1 and selected Bank 1. Next select the Patch.

But it doesn't sound any different. And if I change patches, they don't sound different either.

Well, they (patches) usualy sound similiar, but in good monitor, you can hear the minor difference among 'em. Anyway, have you tried another soundfonts which you knew sounds totaly different ?

I have a drum beat that I created in Piano Roll View. When I apply Blue Jay sound font to that Midi track, I can clearly hear the differences between Yama Maple, DW Maple, etc. It's only in session drummer that the Sound Fonts don't seem to be working.

Could this be due to the drivers I have selected? I also have a Delta 1010lt on this PC.

Click the Session Drummer setting button, and adjust the setting...

Within Session Drummer setting window, manualy select the port match to the track's port and the channel... :) Hit OK... Close the Setting window... Rewind the song... replay... say chees...:)
