256 ddr
30gig scsi
geforce 2 ultra 64ddr
16x plextor cdr
40x dvd hardware decoding

as you can see this is no panzy system

this is what id like to achieve....

Complete hard disk based recording using my computer. Some sort of mixer setup that can control paramters with in the computer. This is going to be used for experimental electronic music. So only about 8 tracks will be necessary. I would like the achieve the highest quality recording posible.

pretend there is no monetary limit(but still be reasonable)

what sound card/ sound cards would you purchase ?what mixer ?
what anything else ?

please help!!!

Do you require a "hands on" mixer for editing parameters or is editing with your mouse an option.

Is 24/96 a must or can you "settle" for 24/48?

How many audio tracks do you need to record at once? Any at all?

24/96 is a must

I do not mind editing with a mouse and actually i prefer too...

but i would like a mixer to control such parameters as chanel level and eq that is just out of preferance

i will need to record about 8 channels up to 4 stereo inputs and 6 mic/instrumental

Do you need to record that many tracks at the same time or do you mean the total number of tracks in a song?

There are control surfaces that can be coupled with e.g. Cubase. These lets you control certain parameters with real faders etc. We talked about them here a while back. Do a search.

You could purchase one or two Tascam TM-D1000's.

Tascam has discontinued this board so you can get them new from a place like Guitar Center.

http://www.guitarcenter.com

I think you could pick one up for about $500.

Then you could pick up a Tascam 822PCI soundcard for about $250.

To much info to list, so go to this page...

It might give you enough INS/OUTS, plus enough variations to suffice.

peace :)
