Hi, this is my first post and to get myself started I'd like some advice (just like all noobs
) about a sound card purchase I will be making within the next couple of weeks...
While I'd much rather not use my computer to record on (I am still not convinced it is such a great way to record, but perhaps some of you can point out the pros and cons to me) and instead have a seperate digital MTR, I've found it cheaper in the short term for me to do it anyways. I have Adobe Audition (thank you work! ) and figure that for my purposes, simply popping in a sound card would do the business instead of spend thousands on a MTR device. My question is what are the opinions of the M-Audio Firewire 410? It was recommened to me by a salesman who is a friend of a friend (so hopefully he isn't about to pull a fast one on me and sell me a steaming pile o' turd! ). What I'm looking for is a card that is external from my tower, has a built in preamp with 1/4" and XLR inputs, is in the 500$ range and gives great sound quality without a hassle (technical problems and hardware conflicts). My system is currently;
P4 3.2
2x512 DDR
WinXP Home
ASUS P4P800 mobo w/onboard sound (though not for long once I get this new card)
Radeon 9800pro (kinda irrelevant here, eh? )
2x60 gig Maxtor 7200rpm HDD's
430w Antec PSU
Thanks for any recommendations! Have a nice day...
