I was wondering which soundcard is the cheapest but is reliable to record music can someone give some recomendation?

what's the specs of your computer???
If we're going to answer this question, we need to know some things about your computer
#1 - what is your operating system? Windows95, 98, ME, XP?
#2 - what kind of motherboard do you have
#3 - what chip set is in your motherboard (certain chip sets are not compatable with certain sound cards)?
#4 How much money can you spend? Give a price range so we can give you some accuracy as to what you might buy.
#5 How fast is your system? 600mhz, 1.2 ghz????
#6 Does your pc have a pci slot to fit a sound card?
#7 Are you willing to suffer???? SOme times it takes alot of suffering in patience to learn everything and work out some bugs in your set up once you get it going.
#8 what are your recording needs. I personally need to mic up a drum kit with 6 mics, so i bought a sound card that had 8 xlr/1/4" jacks in it. You might only need a two or 4 channel card????
