Hi, I'm new to the forum. I am doing some recording and wanted to mix down to a wav. file and ultimately burn CD's from it. However I've run into a problem. I ran my mixer outputs (left and right) to a single stereo 1/8" plug and into my line in on my sound card. Unfortunitly I am receiving no signal to the computer. I ran through the microphone input and got a signal, but only the left side. From what I've gathered, the line in is the way to go but I can't figure why it doesn't work. The jack itself should be okay because I usually run the telephone line to it. I am running a program called BHA gold 5. I have an ADI ac-97 CODEC chip and windows XP. The computer is DELL dimension 4300s.

I am new to computer/sound card recording so please forgive me if I am overlooking something obvious. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it!! Thanks,

Jub

Well, Hard to solve your problem, can't figure out what you are messing up. I am glad that you received a sinal in the mic input, so your signal is good. Now make sure you are sending it in through line in and not line out (this may be dumb, but worth checking) Then go to your soundcard control panel and select the recording input as "Line in" and not mic. If everything is set right you have to get the signal.
My little advice would be to get a good soundcard for recording, rather than playing with a crap onboard Dell card. A audiophile 2496 would be a great way to go. Try it and Good Luck!
