i am trying to build a lil home recording studio with my pc so i can make acoustic and vocal recordings for friends and family i am wondering what type of card to get in my price range 100- 250 i have seen the echo mia, the terratec ewx 24/96, and the audiotrack maya 44, i am leaning towards the maya 44 it has a phantom power for my mic but i was wondering what the qaulity is like of it? any ideas or suggestioins would be greatly appreciated thanks,

Check out the review at digit life.

The quality is inferior to the Mia but better than a Hoontech Dsp Value. The microphone preamp is no good, you should get a separate outboard preamp. There are no digital inputs limiting your future upgrade options.

If you need 4 inputs and are on a tight budget then it may be for you. Otherwise I would get a Mia or EWX. See Sound on Sound website for reviews on those cards.

I would just buy the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 and the external Audiobuddy preamp. The combo would probably be around $250.
