i glanced over the f&q but saw a lot of bickering about what to post and i know this has been posted a billon times, please excuse, i have a small 12ch mixer and am thinking about getting the $299 tascam setup, i use a few high end computers not scsi but twin 80g in raid 0 settings, and a few others that i think would process any amount of data fast enough for many today...

i've seen pro and con on the m-audio cards and backed off buying because of the review links posted in this forum, i see MF has 3 cards on sale from m-audio, i don't really know which i should get, i'm sure the computer can process the data and i have the software, do i need the tascam? and what card would be used for the PC or tascam? is there a difference, i believe so but am not sure...

your help please and of course thanks...

I can only comment on the Delta 1010 because it's the only one I've ever owned.

It works perfectly and installed in about 10 minutes. The sound is great and this card has way more potential than I will ever muster from myself.

PC Specs
DELL 2.5ghz
512mb
30gb, 80gb
NTrack, CoolEdit, FruityLoops and PGMusic (for printing scores)

Works like a champ.

aardvark q10
rme multiface hammerfall
delta 1010
echo (i think it's the layla)
there is a c-port as well...
hmm what else..
ah yea, MOTU stuff is decent.

thanks, i believe the computers will do everything the 8 track tascam would do, ($299) so which card would be best suited for this situation for the PC thanks again...

Man...I know what you feel like -- so many choices. Just hashed out exactly this question, and with a lot of help from this board, decided on the Delta 1010 off Ebay for $450. Just depends on what you need. you could get the Delta 1010LT for $250 new from http://www.digitalproaudio.com/products.html (still 8 in/out, + SPDIF, but no rack & it's unbalanced in/out) That would be less than your $299. Other than that, I don't know of an 8 track recording card that's in that budget. I found the Aardvark Q10 to be almost $800, and the ST Audio C-port (10/10 as well) is $400.

Hope that helps some,
Jed

excuse the drag up reply, i found an m-audio 410 for 140 bucks and grabbed one, lucky i did, i posted the sale here and the next day they were sold out, i wondered hard if it was a miss price but i recived my order conformation and card, now, on the site they show 229 bucks for the card thats sold out...humm, lucky i guess, though i'll never post a great find in a forum again :)

i'm still config the studio at this time, this will take way longer than finding the card on sale...
