I want to track on PC (DAW). Then play back through the soundcard and mix on a 24 channel mixer. I want to be able to feed all 24 tracks from the PC to the mixer, mixdown to a stereo mix and send those 2 channels(L/R) back to the PC for mixdown. Is there a sound card available to do this?

Also please recommend software that would be good for this setup.

Thanks in advance.

Why bother mixing on the board? Do it all on the computer and use a control surface from Digidesign or Makie if you want to move sliders rather than the mouse.

Brzillian thats probaly not the only reason he wants to use a board for his mixes. For one, he already has the board and probaly enjoys using it. On top of that there are countless reasons that one woud want mix out side the box. Some of us come from the old school and have tons of outboard gear that we like to use and think sounds better than any plug ins.

Check out motu's website they have plenty of solutions for stuff like this.

That's what I'd recommend too. The only other option I know of would be to use cards in tandem, like 4 Delta 1010's or C-Ports (I'm not sure if you can use multiple MOTU's in the same system).

In either case, you're looking at significant cash to allow you that option, and your audio will suffer because you're doing an extra D/A and A/D conversion at mixdown. I'd just keep it in the box.
