Hey everyone. I'm a bit new to this game so please excuse the outright ignorance. I recently purchased a Delta 44 soundcard due to the wonderful reviews and recommendations I have heard, but considering the significant price difference in the SB Live and the Delta 44, am I really getting that much of a sound quality difference between the two? I know the answer may seem obvious, but I was just wondering what others thought since so many of oyu seem to use SB Live cards.

Your opinions would be appreciated.

If you are serious about recording, you made a very good purchase. I use the Delta'a predecessor (Dman 2044), and the difference in quality between the A/D, D/A converters in the Dman and the SoundBlaster is significant. I use a SB Live Value ($50) for MIDI and soundfonts and it is excellent for that, so if you think you might be using MIDI and soundfonts get the Live Value and use both cards--the Delta for audio and the SB for MIDI. A lot of us do that.

I have the same set-up:Delta 44 and SB Live Value. When I use midi tracks I can't hear them through the Delta's outputs, only through the SB card. Is there anyway to access the soundfont capabilities of the SB while using the outputs of the Delta? Or do I need to convert the midi tracks to audio?

You got it bub, convert the midi to wav if you want to hear the midi thru your m-audio card. If you have a mixer though, you can route you SB & m-audio card thru the mixer to hear both at the same time.

Yep he's correct.

I have the Delta66/Omni and run a stereo line from the lineout of my other sound card that has Midi to on of the aux ins on the Omni I/O to listen to the other card through the Omni I/O when I want to... just a matter of pressing a button to turn the aux channel on and off
