I am just about to install sonar xl. I'm hoping to be able to achive a few thingswith it. You guys can tell me if I can. Im really only getting it for the ease of saving mixes but I'm thinking that I can "repair" tracks as well?? Such as a bass track that needs a little tweaking with eq. or compresion. Is this true???

Sonar will allow you to do any sort of editing and processing you can imagine. So, you bought Sonar and you didn't know this? Or are you pirating Sonar?

There's a hell of a lot less expensive ways to go if you just wanna tweak a track or two. If you just want to save a mix or add a bit of eq, you just need a simple wave editor. Look at Sound Forge or Wave Lab. Sonar XL????? I can't see where that's cost-effective for what you say you need to do.

Cool Edit 2000 is only $69.

Quartz Audio is free!!!! N-track is cheap. Oh, the possibilities are astronomical!! Keep lookin', there's lots of inexpensive options.

... but Sonar is the best! :D

After all, you are in the Cakewalk forum. ;)

I bought Sonar a long time ago but never used it. I just bought a computer that will handle it. Im recording onto an Alesis HD 24. I will dump the tracks from the Alesis via ethernet...then I hope to be able to edit and save mixes.

...Sure SONAR can handle those tasks. But IMHO, it's easier (and some case more powerfull...) to use dedicated wave editor like those guys mentioned above. I use Cool Edit Pro 2 to do that beside SONAR... ;)
