Sony Reel to Reel

Thats a sweet unit, although I would guess that is more for listening, not recording.

About anything is a good deal for $35!

If it works now, it should work for some time to come, but no guarantees.

It's not something to mix to for masters, but still it has it's uses.

I'm actually going to look for something like that to play some of my dad's old tapes on so that I don't risk my 32 on those tapes.

I saw a local craiglist ad for a Sony Reel to Reel. Here's the link:

I know nothing about analog gear. Is this a great deal? What questions should I ask if I go take a look at it? Please don't scoop me on this if you are also local. Thanks.

I got one of them at an auction a couple years ago. $10!! Have no use really but it is neat to have around.

I'd not worry about someone "scooping" you on this one 'cause it's just an old consumer deck for playing back your old reel to reel tapes. It'll probably record too but it's nothing to be excited about. It's not a pro or even a semi-pro deck by any means. If you want to track with it, I'd look elsewhere.

A couple days ago I bought a Sony TC 355 at a garage sale. I'm going to refurbish it/replace the belts.

unless all you've got is something like this (with pinky IN, bluevy OUT and greenny MIC pre) and the recording is what you are after.

...which sounds like a good reason for excitement to me :D
