I saw a Sony ECM 55B Lavalier mic in a s/h shop today for £15 - $35-ish - I've been looking to grab some mics to try binaural recording, and read that Tchad Blake uses these.
They retail here at about £300, so I figure I got a bargain if I go back & buy it.
Does anyone know anything about this mic? Or any binaural tips for that matter - I recently tried to approximate the Neuman head with a pumpkin & 2 PZMs gaffer-taped to each side with pretty good results...
Thanks.

Well, I'm sure you're all fascinated to know that I got it.
S'o.k
I can't for the life of me figure out why they're £300 though. It's just o.k - a fairly average omni IMO.

Definitely worth £15, though

The only problem I see is the inevitable rotting of the pumpkin . . . which is bound to happen in time, and is likely to produce a foul and/or unpleasant odor.

I think binaural recording, properly done and played back through decent headphones, is far and away the most stunning audio experience to be had.

When I throw on old cassettes of people I recorded years ago, it is as if they are there within arms length.

I wonder if a styrofoam head from a wig shop might be better than a pumpkin?
