I grew up using it, and i have it figured out totally.. i just wonder why so few people actually use it for multitracking... Is there something i don/t know about it that makes it inferior to other daws?

I haven't used ACID in a long time, so I'm not sure what it's like these days. But when I did, it was used mainly for electronic music production. Lots of working with loops and creating beats more than anything.

Yeah thats what it always was traditionally... the newest version( which is from i think 2008) has multitrackin is why i asked... I do pretty on it using that and soundforge together for mastering (compression/eq/etc) a whole songinstead of individual tracks

The question on 'why' more people don't use it can be explained by the software itself. Does it allow plug-ins? MIDI editing? Any limit on the number of channels it can record (at one time and total)? As mentioned by everyone elsewhere, a DAW is a DAW, if the features are the same ...

Unlimited tracks (i use 32 or more soemtimes) Midi capable. great mixing console. it allows VST plugins, and it comes with a pretty good pack of them bundled. It can record as many channels as the interface will allow. I run four simultaniusly thru an aduio box and it doesnt have any latency issues... Idk man i think more ppl should check it out!! i've used alot of software i just can't break away from acid. Acid six didnt have have the features the new vesrion has.*(7)

I used to use Acid Pro 7 but recently moved away for a few reasons

*It's not fully 64 bit compatible and hasn't had an update in over three years, there are a lot of rumors floating around on Sony's forums that development has been abandoned (two full new versions of Vegas and one Soundforge full version upgrade released since there was even a patch to Acid released)
*No track to track routing
*VST support is spotty and limited. You can only have one plugin open at a time which didn't work well for me when mixing, it just slows things down and makes tweaking more than one thing at a time on one or multiple tracks impossible. There are also some compatibility issues with some of the nicer VSTs that I wanted to use
*MIDI is fairly basic and I was outgrowing it

I don't think it's a bad DAW and Iloved learning music production on it and I hope Sony do eventually release a new 64 bit fully Win 7 version with better MIDI and VST implementation but for many it seems to be a dying platform

Just one opinion
YMMV

ACID Pro & is 32 bit software
It will run in a 64 bit OS like vista or 7 if you load it in 32 bit mode however you will not be able to use any more than 4GB of RAM and very often it has been reported as unstable running this way.
It was developed for XP and the very last patch that was released around 3 years ago was to make it more compatible with Vista. There has been no development released since then to take into account Win 7 or to be a full 64 bit software.
Both Vegas and Soundforge are 64 bit software however

1 plug-in at a time per track? Seriously limited. I'd be forever creating FX busses.

New to Acid Pro 7 and looking for help. I've got two sources (soundboard and audience), recorded on different recorders, of the same concert that I'm trying to combine. I line the starting points of the two .wav files up, but one drifts and is out of "sync" with the other by the end. I've researched and understand why/how this happens, but to your point, not much help specifically related to Acid Pro 7 with regard to correcting the issue. I love the Sony line of products and use Sound Forge 10 almost daily, which is why I thought Acid would be the right choice for a DAW. Are you able to offer any advice or suggestions?
