Has anyone tried one of these guitar to MIDI converters?

I was thinking about buying one to track some fiddle riffs. My actually fiddle chops are too weak to execute what I need (I just sound like a sick alleycat) and trying to play fiddle parts on a keyboard losses some of the subtle string effect.

I've got some decent fiddle samples - and I'm thinking triggering them from a guitar (vs. keyboard) may add some authentic feel.

I've got one. It's a fun little device.

Check out the Youtube demos. Sweetwater has a good one and there are a couple from NAMM last year too.

The tracking is a little weird, and it tracks better above the 12th fret. The nice thing about MIDI is you can transpose your MIDI patch to the range you want so you get a little better timing from the Sonuus.

It will only track one note at a time and you need to adjust pitch bend to 2 semitones unless you want A LOT of extra notes sounding. Just bending the string will give you fast arpeggios otherwise. It will sustain a note for a pretty good duration, but when the gate closes it's pretty abrupt.

I've used mine mostly with a Moog Voyager and a little bit with a Roland JV1010.

Thanks for sthe reply. I had already shecked our the vidoe links you mentioned and had read about only tracking one note at a time - although I did not know it tracked better higher on the neck (whihc makes perfect sense).

Do you think it tracks good enough to play some basic fiddle lines (which is the main reason I want to use it)??? I bought a fiddle - but it will take me a long time to get decent tone and articulation - however, I have some very decent fiddle samples - but I want to play them with guitar to capture the slides, bends and vibrato.
