Is this a good snare? I just won the science fair, so I think I will be able to persuade my mom to buy me a new piece for my drum set... and my snare drum sounds like utter crap, even when I tune it it goes back to sounding horrible a day or two later. Or should I just wait till the January when I order a Sonor Force 3005 set and keep that snare (all maple snare)? I play rock and metal. Any advice? Which would be the best choice? The steel snare, the vintage snare, or the (Force 3005) maple snare?

DO NOT BUY THE ONE ON EBAY. The snare is a great snare, but look at the guy who is selling it! No feedback.

A seller with no feedback and only a library photo is a kinda no-no for me. :)

yea i noticed that. I first saw the snare on ebay and i wanted to check it on musician's friend. Then i saw it would cost me $1000. So forget it. Either the steel one or I'll wait until I get the drum set in January.
