I have an opportunity to buy a mint pair of these drums, in perfect shape.

I don't know too much about drum quality but from what I researched these seem to be good.

For 700$ Canadian they seem like a good deal, right now I just have a Peavey set and I am going to assume the Sonor's are WAY WAY better than the peaveys.

Or should I save up a little more for a different set, like Pearl or Ludwig???

Thanks in advance for the help!

The Sonors might be a nice step up from the PV's. As far as saving up a little more, it really depends on which level of quality you want to go to.

How many pc in the kit you're looking at? Hardware and cymbals included? Lacquer finish or wrapped? It sounds like you're paying almost full price for a used kit if the ones I looked at are any indication.

I have a set of Force 3007 (well my sons) which are great. The quality of the hardware alone is unmatched at the same price point. I not sure on the Force 2007 if its the same hardware or not. The 3007 are all maple ply and I believe the lesser numbers start using less maple plies and more birch. I looked for months, online and in the stores and none of the others in my price range compared. From a quick google search it looks like the hardware is the same and the 2007's are all birch.

Yup, 2007s are birch 3007s, both well received. I don't think it's a phenomenal price. Also, what Peaveys do you have? The weird kettle-looking ones have a small but rabid fanbase, you might want to find a motivated buyer, or learn the ins and outs and keep them.

Bought my son a set of 3007s too. They're great drums. The 2007s are birch shells. They really are a good kit for the price, and they sound great. Hardware is good enough. Easlily useable for doing shows and recording. The shells are good, though unfinished inside.
