Hey all, I'm new to the site and have a question. It has only happened once so I don't know what the problem is (if any). I use Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. I was mixing a project, and whenever I added the Sonic Foundry compressor to a track I encountered synchronization problems. At no time did I ever change tempo, nor was I using any MIDI functions. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'd like to know if it is some sort of freakish glitch. Like I said, it has only happened once.

This will happen occasionally with DirectX plugins. Happens mostly when making adjustments to a plugin while the song is playing. Not usually a big deal though. Just stop and restart the playback, and it will sync back up.

This has been my experience anyway.

not that simple

thanks for the quick response, Looney Tunez, but the solution is not that simple. I continued to work on the aforementioned project, and cutting and pasting pieces within the project, and the pieces that I would paste had synchronization problems...along with the whole project. This happened, however, only after I had applied the Sonic Foundry compressor. Before applying the compressor cutting and pasting had no synchronization problems. Consequently, it messed up the whole project. Fortunately I had saved earlier versions of the project so it could be salvaged. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Like I had stated earlier this only happened once.

That is a very different experience than what I've had. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a possible scenario/solution for you.

Sonic Foundry Plug Ins

It is A familiar problem when using Cakewalk Pro 9 with Sonic Foundries plug ins.I am not sure of the exact technical explanation but it is a confirmed problem. I love using my Sound Forge 5 plug ins in different programs, but they would often cause file corruption during odd times in Pa9 causing the file to crash exactly at the same place every time. The only way I could go on was to export the raw wave data to a new project and start over.
Now that I have switched to Samplitude, the plugins work flawlessly.
