Songwriting Class Update

For all of you that have been waiting anxiously for an update on my saga of trying to establish a songwriting class at the local community college...

Well, the first class got post-poned. Only 3 sign-ups. They bumbed them all over to the summer quarter. I talked to the director of education at the college and she said it's not unusual for a brand new class to take a quarter or two to get rolling, so hopefully the summer quarter will be the first actual class and things will snowball from there...

The awesome thing is, with all the class notes I put together I was able to get my songwriting book written and for sale finally. Once the class does get started I'll have my very own textbook...

Congratulations - that's not peanuts, writing a book.

Aaron, I took a novel writing class about a year ago, and the teacher used a method from a book called 'Writing Without Teachers" for the feedback portion of the class. It really helped us be better readers, commentators and recievers of feedback. I reccomend it - the chapter on the "Teacherless Writing Class". The first part of the book is .... wordy. I plan to use this as a guide for a songwriters group I hope to get started over the summer.
