Hi all,

I'm new to this site and there might be a thread discussing where to find
backgrounds (tracks of famous songs without the voice) for home voice recording, if so I havent found it yet.

I used to just download midi songs, drag them into garageband and then improve the sound as much as I could,
and then record vocals. Problem is, it seldom sounds very good.

Im simply asking if there is anywhere i can find good quality instrumental songs for home vocal recording purposes

thank you in advance

There are literally thousands of Karaoke tracks on iTunes alone. I have bought about 25 myself, just to add a little 'help' when singing for a crowd with just me & my guitar!

I shudder to think of what is available for free.

Most of them are really well done.

Thx a bunch

Hello again, and thx alot. I downloaded a few songs from itunes store, and there were lots of good quality ones.

Strat1958 when you perform Live and use these as background, do you ever have to change the pitch to match your voice, and if, how do you do it and does it sound good?

The reason for asking this is that I can't reach those high notes in some of the songs and need to lower the pitch.

Thx in advance

No, the karaoke tracks are usually recorded in the same key as the original tune. I find ways to get around singing the really high notes that I can no longer hit. Usually it's only 1 or 2 notes in a song.
