I sure would appreciate some honest feedback on the mix of this song. It is my first attempt at recording a piano and I wasnt quite sure where to put it in the mix.

Pretty simple set-up a stereo pair on the piano. The guitar and vocal were recorded a the same time with a SD condensor on the guitar and a LD condensor on the vocal. It was recorded and mixed on a BOSS BR1600.

I can't say that do doing inspires me as an intro. A lyric refrain or piano line would have sounded more confident to me.
THe nature of the piano lines mean that - even though it's a stereo recording most of the action appears to be happening in one ear. You might need to narrow the panning OR EQ some of the piano in the quiet channel so that it's more active. The bass notes certainly could use some volume & definition anyway so doing just that might fill the void.
The song's a goodun & the performances are nice & well captured.

rayc,

Thank you I appreciate the comments, especially on the do, do's. I've been singing it that way for so long I hadn’t even considered a change. Maybe its time.

We did a separate track that was a bass line on the piano but I just wasn’t happy with it. I plan on sending the song to a buddy and have him record a bass track for me. Maybe that will help.

i like the song, even though Im into metal.

The left side of the track is lower then the right side. I also recomend narrowing the panning. Maybe bring up the guitar a bit.

overall, I digged it.

I really dig the song and the pace of the song. The only thing that i can say is maybe during the piano refrain bring the piano up a little bit so it has a bit more feeling. And i think if you get a good bass line recorded that will be a nice addition.

rock on.

nice song. first of all let me say that the song is arranged nicely and played very well. its not my style of music, but everything flows well and its put together nicely. i think the piano could be a little more pronounced. maybe not so 'dry'. im not really hearing much of a panning problem, but my ears are newbie ears, so take that into consideration. like rayc, i dont much care for the 'doo-doo's'. id like to hear more piano work in their place, or even a some licks played on that acoustic guitar. overall though, its a very nicely done song. :)
