This is a new one I was working on last night. The guitars are going to be re-recorded but everything else is final, I think. Please listen and tell me what you think. Here's the link: "Complicated".

Thanks in advance.

The heavy part should come in a lot louder compared to the quiet part, at least I think. The heavy vocals get a bit pitchy at times. Cool guitar tones. Keep at it!

Agreed - I wanted more oompf in the heavy part. The vocals are there I think but the rest needs to come up to meet them.... Lots of emotion in this song...I like the way it starts soft then gets really strong. The background vocals work well in this.....

Good song. I like that you juxtapose vocal styles that don't often get combined.

The transition between the clean and distorted parts is a little abrupt. If you're re-recording the guitars, I'd put in something to forcast the transition a little more, such as a held distorted note creschendoing during the last measure or two of the clean part.

That's a good idea! I think I'll have them do that. I can really hear it in my head now. Why didn't I think of that before? The vocal styles are pretty extreme. I didn't even use reverb on the heavy ones. The room we recorded in provided it naturally.

We're going to be recording some more harmony vocals for the verses to give them a bit of dimension. As for the harmony vox that are there already, I'm probably going to turn them down a bit. They stick out too much for my taste.

I agree. The pitch can be corrected. I'll either get them re-recorded or try some pitch correction software. Thanks for the compliment on the guitar.

Also, how were the drums? Were they too dry or were they not dry enough. Did the cymbals and hats mix well?

Could this stand for some other musical pieces such as keys/synths?
