Hi Guys....and Girls.

I am new to this forum and also new to home recording (so please be patient and explain everything like you are talking to a 3 year old child ! ) I have just loaded sonar 4 onto a basic laptop running windows7. There are no MIDI devices present so I am assuming I can record drums, bass, guitar etc, through the mic. input. I have managed to get an MP3 audio track from my phone playing through the laptop speakers, but when I try to get it into sonar the input in the track pane dropdown only says "none" .The manual says I should be able to choose an input ( but I'm struggling with the manual too, to be honest )

It may be that i need to alter settings in windows, or something may not be compatible ( probably the software and ME! )

Thanks for reading and I hope one of you boffins can point me in the right direction. Many Thanks in advance.

Do you have a recording interface or sound card inputs and out puts showing or selected in the audio options tabs? Once they're there they show up as racks input options.
I'm wondering about Sonar 4 running in Win7-?

Hi mixsit,
thanks for your reply. I have been in to "options-audio" and the driver mode is ASIO ( options for mme32 and WDM/KS ) in the "drivers" tab there are two boxes marked "input drivers" and "output drivers" both are empty!

I'm only going to be able to be partly helpful, and if no one else jumps in-- Have you tried the Sonar forum?

Hi Mixsit,

I did reply yesterday, or so i thought (me and technology........?) Anyway, I got it sorted out after you pointed me in the direction of the "Drivers" tab. I switched between the available options and when i hit "mme32", lo and behold....drivers appeared !, so thankyou very much. I now have a Latency problem after my laptop froze !, but I'll find out how to cure that eventually. SO once again Thanks for your help.

Cheers Maxhr
