Does any one here use Sonar3 with a Celeron? is it over 2.0ghz?
I have a celeron 2.4ghz with 640mb dual HD's. My friend has the sam setup and he uses Sonar 2.2xl and it runns pretty smooth without much hikups....... so we tried it on my PC as well just for testing sake and 2.2xl and plugins etc worked very well after a couple of adjustments.......... but ofcourse I need to buy my own copy of sonar.(I had 1.0 on my laptop, bought it used from a shop)
I have also downloaded the Sonar3 demo and it runs just as well.
And yes I have plans to upgrade my Motherboard and processor, see my post in the PC hardware forum..........(suggestions on this? Motherboard, brand, chipset, processor, brand speed?).
Is sonar3 and diferent in terms of being a system hog or not?
Is my system a good one for Sonar3? a friend of mine is a beta tester for them and says it should be alright..........
Thanks for any input!

well as far as your system goes i havent heard great things about celeron. With that said if your looking to upgrade ide go with an Abit motherboard because they tend to be stable and have alot of nice extras like built in 6 chanel audio and a NIC card (not that you have to uses thoes), but anyways with a processor go with a pentium(speed depending on how many plugins and what else your goin to be doin but anything over 2.4 should work like a charm) their more stable than athlon and things like that as well. And the way plugins are gettin nowadays ide go ahead and get a GIG of DDR ram. Hopfully this will help stear you in the right direction. Godd Luck

Reco, what soundcard do you and your friend have?

I have a M-Audio AudioPhile 24/96, my friend had the same but just moved up to a Echo MIA MIDI for the balanced I/O......

I have been running 2.2xl and the Sonar3 Demo today and they act the exact same!

Folks at the Cakewalk.com sonar forum have been saying that its just fine etc............

ANy other thoughts? any thoughts on SIS chipsets?
Thanks again.

Have you tried using ASIO-drivers? Options -> Audio -> Advanced, and choose ASIO in the rollout-box.
