Can you use the SONAR compression FX on a mic input signal while recording, or can you use it only on audio that has been previously recorded?
 
Are you sure about that, Spin? Isn't that one of the effects they redid for DirectX 8 and to take advantage of WDM drivers?

OK, I looked at the website, you are indeed correct...

"SONAR features fully automatable DSP-FX by Power Technology including StudioVerb (Reverb), Parametric EQ, Delay, Chorus, and Flange...

"SONAR provides additional 32-bit, real-time effects. These non-automatable effects include Compressor/Gate, Expander/Gate, Limiter, Tape Saturation, Amp Simulation, Pitch Shifting, and more."
