Could you let me know where I can download the user manual (or any guide/primer) for Cakewalk Sonar XL? Thanks.

I searched the web but couldn't find any.

It is supplied in printed form when you buy the program. (Er, you did buy the program, right?)

Oh God, here we go again.

HK, think very carefully before you answer this question:cool:

Or else we shall have to carry out a very painful operation involving an electric cattle prod and a pair of handcuffs:eek:

Could they just start a I have the software but I don't have the manual forum?

Paul, you are a very wise man. Let me see how to phrase my answer to dachay2tr....... Cakewalk must be an outstanding program, as evidenced by the huge number of users around the world. These users are like a big family, tied together by their commitment to Cakewalk and willingness to share information for the benefit of potential users........

As a long time user of CW 6.0 I just gave SONAR a try with their 11 MB download. Man what a letdown. Once again. That's no surprise to me. Every "upgrade" since ver. 6 has sucked.
They BUTCHERED a beautiful product!!!!
Someone ought to go to JAIL!!!!! We have a CRIME here.
All I want is a decent MIDI sequencer. None of the MIDI parameters are displayed without farting around with some idiotic right-click menu. My right-click finger is gonna go numb trying to use this POS.

And version 6 doesn't run under XP. :(

For now I'll have to run two PCs to continue to compose MIDI.

i have sonar and no clue how to use it. my dad's friend quit recording and gave me it... he lost the manual and i have no clue what im doing so i just stick with sound forge/acid 3

I went to a demo of Sonar 2 XL on Tuesday in Croydon nr London UK and this question was asked then. The reply was that Cakewalk do not copy protect their software so therefore making the user manual available as a pdf file would not be in the company's interest. Since one gets (as has already been mentioned) a lovely thick paper manual with the program when you buy it you would not need a pdf version unless... oh dear its the reality police on the phone agin. Sorry must go...........

The manual is very poor anyway. Why people can't use the help files plus this forum, I don't know. Maybe they expect everything to drop in their lap for free, without any investment in time and effort from themselves.

What I object to is people asking such wide open questions like "where do I start?". I would be more impressed if they asked specific questions that demonstrated that they had at least tried to use the program. And the strange thing is, the people who post such open questions here always seem to be the ones who have got hold of the software for free. It seems that if you pay for something, you try harder to make your investment work.

Just a personal observation here you understand, nothing meant to offend.:)

Well said Paul!
Ditto.

I, for one, get very tired of the questions that start, "I have copies of Cubase, Sound Forge, Wavlab, Sonar, Nuendo, Waves Ltd. and Ozone. Can someone tell me where to plug the mic in."

In the spirit of oneupmanship......
can sombody teach me how to sing, play guitar and then write a song for me?

Acid rock, how many more times, READ THE BLOODY MANUAL!:p
