Dear good people,

Happy new year to you all

We are a christian charity organization, with a music ministry to reach out to the needs of the very poor and neglected people in local communities in Nigeria. We also have a local church which is primarily focused on giving the love of christ to homeless, orphan and rejected people.

We just received gift of 2 units of brand new unopened software packages, each containing full version of cakewalk sonar xl being the acclaimed best of the cakewalk music software series.

This is an excellent music recording software as the christian brother who donated this product said, but we currently have finished our recording at a commercial studio that uses cubase vst 5.0 software and have no need for this software as we do not have a studio of our own at present. We had made a few local consultations for possible sales, but the studios are only accustomed to cubase vst product range, hence making the sale of sonar xl difficult for us.

We have many children who have been orphaned by the last islamic religious crisis against christians in the Northern part of Nigeria. These children need food, medicare, and clothing to enable them cope with the harsh weather of the tropics. We cannot afford to abandon these lovely children to the bad hammattan weather of the Tropics. For the cause of these type of children we run the orphanage.

We want to sell the cakewalk at $350 US dollars each, making it $700 us dollars for the two units. This is our asking price. The children at the orphanage are very hungry, and their clothes are torn. We beleive this software will be very great for your recording needs. And more we shall keep you in all our prayers for mighty open doors and great success this new year. Pastor Paul, I apologize in advance if this is a legitimate offer. However, I need to offer this warning to users at this site.

Nigeria is famous (notorious) for various types of scams. Ever get those "I'm a banker and we need to transfer money to your account, you'll get 20%" type emails? Many people have lost mucho denero falling for very well orchestrated scams. Nigeria is also regularly at the top of the "most corrupt countries in the world poll" conducted annually (a poll of international businessmen).

Nigeria is also the largest producer of pirated software and music in Africa, so even if you get a working CD, you may very well be purchasing pirated software. Gidge's question is a good one - why not just return the sofware to the place of purchase for the cash? This smells bad. I strongly suggest that at very least no one send any money (no "postage", no "good faith money" etc.) until the disk is in hand, and you know it works.

By the way, I spent 2 1/2 years living in Cameroon, which borders Nigeria (and also near the top of the "corrupt country poll). I've seen a lot of this sort of thing. I'm not just talking out of butt.

Again Pastor Paul, I apologize if this is legitimate. But you certainly should understand my concerns.
 
I have to go along with Neirbo. My company has received several mail "scam" letters from Nigeria, it would be best to use caution.

But I agree..Take it back to the original point of purchase, and there will be more money available to feed those who are needy.

The needs of the children vs sonar

Dear good people,

I have very carefully read in between lines on every email of yours in respect to our requests for exchange of sonar for food at the orphanage and as well respect all your opinions about Nigeria. Nigeria like many other third world countries have experienced a lot of problems, but that of Nigeria has been most alarming. Why? This is a country blessed with abundance of supplies, yet the masses suffer beyond measure. The prolonged involvement of the corrupt military government in Nigerian government for over 20 years caused too much problem. Can you imagine United Kingdom, USA, Germany or france being ruled through the barrel of the gun and all democratic appeals turned down and replaced with military orders!!! What will you expect to see? George bush, Tony blair dialoguing with senate/house of lords or imprisoning political activists and stashing away stolen tax payers money in swiss banks, which option do you expect in military government?

Nigeria is a country with a population of over 110 million people. If say 10 percent of this population is fraudulent, which is about 11 million people, does this mean that the whole people in the country is corrupt? 11 million corrupt people from Nigeria could mean almost the entire population of countries like Ghana, zimbabwe, gambia, cameroon, togo, benin republic, and many other smaller african countries!! This is alarming I must sincerely admit, but it does not well mean that ever body in Nigeria is corrupt! There are still God fearing christians and good people from different religions including islam.

This bad image of Nigeria has been the cause why people turned deaf ears during the associated crisis of the attack on terrorism in AFGHANISTAN

Our children in the Orphanage needs food, used clothes, and medication. You can send us your childrens used clothes, or canned food and children toys which your children have discarded we need them here.

I have not asked for any money in advance to send you the packages, but this could mean fraud as Nigeria is dreaded all over the world for fraudulent activities. May God forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe that this is a big scam.

I also dont believe the "well send it before you pay" .whats your guarantee? I dont believe that there is C.o.d from Nigeria, so someone can take your software and not pay for it.

I have been in the presence of "419" guys and I know how they operate. Very smoothly.

I have also bought pirated software in Nigeria. I paid $25 for a cd that had over $20,000 worth of software. Right of of the state newspaper. Quarter page ad to.

Let me ask a question? Why did a person give you two copies of the same software? Can you give the name and phone number of the studio that you recorded in so that I can call and find out if you had been there?


Let this be a warning to everybody.

NEVER SEND MONEY TO AN ADDRESS IN NIGERIA. NOT FOR A PRODUCT, NOT FOR A SERVICE. it is all a big scam.

In fact, the third biggest industry in Nigeria, believe it or not, is "419" code name for ADVANCE FEE FRAUD. If you send or wire money to a nigerian address or account, YOU WILL LOSE IT.

these guys live like kings and a college educated. They also have a network in the states and UK, so dont send money to a nigerian at a U.S address either.

To add insult to injury, the legal system over there is so bad that when people who have been conned and lost hundreds of thousands come over there and try to get their money back in the courts, the case gets lost and forgotten.

you don't need a credit card to sell on ebay. You don't need a credit card to register on ebay. All you need is an address where someone can send money....how are you expecting to receive funds now? money order? I wouldn't advise having someone send cash internationally...wire it?..you can accept payment in both these forms by selling the software on ebay..

If you're for real, and I have no way of knowing, then I apologize for the tone...if I see that you completed the transaction, hell, I'll send you some cash on top of it...

if not, shame on you for using the church and some poor kids to try and rip somebody off....

One small additional problem Pastor!

You're asking price is at least $60.00 more (per unit) than it could be purchased from normal suppliers who only ship new software, and within the U.S..

No one sale this for"list" or near list price!

The software was advertised by a computer company in the state newspaper. If anyone anything was illegal, it was the company, and come to think of it, the whole system.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but pastors in Nigeria dont go about selling software.
