When I turned on my compter this am and try to ftp files from my alesis hd24 it loaded wave sounds?? instead of wave file.It will not play them Is this a computer issue or sonar/? Im stuck!!!

when I check the individule track proporties it says wave sound like in media player instead of wave file and also, when I loaded a song bundle I saved on DVD and try to play it I have massive dropout. My CPU is at like 85-90%. The DVD should have played right as it was saved prior and I checked it to make sure it was saved correctly and it played perfect after I burned it the other day!! This stuff drives me nuts!!!!! Help!

Oh! The "Sound Wave"-issue is not a problem. It means that a program (likely Windows Media Player) is the default playback-program for the file, and it has created a "name" for wav-files.

And the song-bundle, is that a Cakewalk Bundle (for Sonar) or is it from the HD24? Is the HD24 files 24-bit? What soundcard do you have?

A wave file contains a wave sound. They are the same thing (sort of). If you have a file on your computer that Windows identifies as a wave sound, then it is a wave file.

What does this have to do with wave sounds?? You can't be mixing and matching problems and expect people to understand what it is you're asking.

Yes the bundle should behave as it did before you backed it up to CD. However, the state of your computer could very well be different today than it was yesterday (e.g., background stuff running, unreleased memory, etc.) which could affect how it plays back. Try and reboot and see what happens.

Let me explain this better now that Im on break at work. Last Sat. I was with a guy that is supposed to be real good at this stuff, and we were trying to set up a new Motu 2408 MKiii so I can use it instead of doing the ether net ftp transfer from the HD 24. We could not get the Motu to work,no drivers for some reason. Anyways, after messing with it for a couple of hours I said forget it for now and I set it up again to work with the FTP transfer with ethernet. I checked to make sure all was ok as I said with a mix I saved on DVD. I wanted to at least get everything back to where I was. iT PLAYED BEAUTIFUL. No problems at all. I go to transfer a song from the HD 24 last night and at the end of the transfer there is an error message..I dont recall what it said. But when I opened up Sonar and tried to import the waves files for the song, they looked totally different that I have had before. Different icon I guess you would call it for each track and when I tried to import it ,Sonar says that it cant because it is not compatable with the current format. Whats up with that??? And as I said, when I tried to play the mix from the DVD that I saved,my computer seemed to be overworked and it would have a dropout after about 2 seconds and sounded distorted. Help please.

Ok... see if I'm correct here:
- You saved a mix from the HD24 to disk, and played it back through the HD24. No problems...

- You try to open the files in Sonar and get an error-message. "Not compatlible with the current format". (And forget about the icon, these can change as the computer want to. Have you installed a new program in the last few days/week?)

This error-message comes up when you are trying to import a 24-bit file and Sonar is set to use 16-bit.

So your soundcard need to be able to play 24-bit waves. Is it?
And again: What soundcard do you have?

Sound card is fine..Gina. Bit rates are correct. Sorry if Im confusing people as Im very new at this myself. Could there be an issue with the Audio desk from the Motu program being the default by mistake??? This entire setup worked great untill my "person" tried to install the Motu 2408.

If you have more than the Gina drivers specified under Options -> Audio -> Drivers, deselect them so that Sonar is just using the Gina-drivers.

No, thats al fine. I disabled the Motu and enabled the Gina.
