 I downloaded the Pro 5 demo to see if I want to spend the BIG bucks and it will not recoignize my sound card. When I open it Iget a prompt to pick a midi output device. When I go to pick it has Micro midi manager but not my sound card

What is your sound card? Can help if we know a little more info.

Sonar won't show your sound card in MIDI options. Go to Audio options and you should find it there. You will then need to select your sound card drivers and run the wave profiler. HTH

SoundMax Integrate digital shows up in my audio options for input and output drivers.

Is that an on board sound card?

Sounds like it.

Try going into Options--Audio, then go to the Drivers Tab and switch it to WDM, and turn the dithering to none. Then close out of it and Sonar and start it back up. It should do the wave profiler and check for the best settings.

Note: Sonar Producer is a very powerful piece of software and does not like to play nice with onboard sound cards. And on a further note: anyone who is going to pay $500.00 for Sonar Pro. should at the very least have an entry level recording card like:

M-audio 2496
E-MU 0404
Behringer FCA-202
M-Audio Delta 44

These have more sophisticated drivers than any onboard card, and will interface a lot better with sonar. Just my 2 Cents.

That and the converters are way better. Plus numerous other things...

It is a onboard card, but I want to use the sonar for live preformance and just need the card for midi editing. I will try what you suggest and see what happens.

My driver options dosen't show WDM just the soundMax driver

Sorry, I think It's Options--Audio, then the Advanced Tab. Look at the middle of the box and you should have a drop down box that lets you select between WDM, ASIO, and MME.
