Sonar not recognizing Midi Output

I just installed Sonar 1.31 on my New computer. I cannot play Midi with Sonar. It will not recognize my sound card as a viable option for output. When I go to options / Midi I get 2 lists that are blank. One for input and the output lists Microsoft Midi Mapper, but that will not allow sound. Under my Audio Device Properties it lists a Midi Music Playback Device as 'Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth.' I installed Pro Audio 9 to check and it works. It sees the Midi playback device.

I am running WinXP. I have a Via VT8235 KM266 chipset/Motherboard I believe, those numbers may no go together. It has an integrated on-board sound card (AC'97)

If anyone can offer assistance I would appreciate it.

SONAR has different aproach on recognizing the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth than Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 (CWPA9). I dunno much about the 1.31 version, but with SONAR 2XL, you can use DXi if you don't have any MIDI devices on the fly. It simply replacing the function of Ms GS Wavetable soft synth you mentioned above... in alot better way!!!

I see James noticed my plan of divide and maybe get the answer. Well I figured out the issue.

I was using WDM drivers instead of MME drivers. It is an option under audio options in Sonar.

It works.

Just be careful about doubble-posting... people don't like it around here. ;)

But this one is OK, since it's you... :D
